"Truth for Denise 2021"
“Truth for Denise”: this is the phrase written on the 8-meter banner that was displayed this afternoon on the balcony of the bishop's palace in Piazza della Repubblica in Mazara del Vallo. The PVC banner also features the logo of the Diocese and a photo of little Denise Pipitone, who disappeared on September 1, 2004. Bishop Monsignor Domenico Mogavero immediately responded to the appeal of the “Arco” association of Marsala, which invited everyone—public bodies, associations, and private citizens—to display a sign with the phrase “Truth for Denise.” «It is emerging, today more sadly and dramatically than in the past, that Denise and her family have been overwhelmed by a malicious and guilty wave of lies, omissions, silence, and cover-ups. It is time to stop and sweep away these poisons and to all ask together and loudly: give us back Denise,» said Bishop Mogavero. On Sunday, Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi met with the young seminarians led by Don Davide Chirco.

This morning the community of the Episcopal Seminary of Mazara del Vallo met with the parents of Denise Pipitone, Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi, who belong to the territory of the Santa Rosalia parish, where the seminarians are currently on a vocational mission. The two parents told the Seminary community about the martyrdom they have been living for 17 years: "Together we prayed for them and their missing daughter," said Don Davide Chirco, director and assistant for the formation of seminarians.
"Denise's case is a tragedy that concerns Mazara del Vallo and all of Italy. We want to believe that one day light will be shed on this sad affair and that justice will take its course. To Piera and Pietro we said that the Church is close to their suffering and that we will carry in our hearts the indelible memory of their testimony and the daily commitment to remember them in prayer," Don Davide added.

Mazara del Vallo, April 23, 2021
In the presence of Piera Maggio and Piero Pulizzi, parents of #DenisePipitone, the municipal administration displayed the #TruthforDenise banner at the "Cavalieri di Malta" Town Hall.
“This banner dedicated to Denise,” said Mayor Salvatore Quinci and City Council President Vito Gancitano, “is a further action that expresses our community’s desire to reaffirm with even greater strength our full support and solidarity with Piera Maggio and Piero Pulizzi, with the ever-living hope of being able to embrace Denise again and so that truth and justice may prevail.”
Mayor Salvatore Quinci made a further appeal to heed the call made by Monsignor Mogavero: “Those who know, speak up!”.
Seeing this banner displayed at the town hall—said an emotional Piera Maggio—is very moving and makes us feel the warmth of the community. Denise—concluded Piera—is our daughter but she has also become the daughter of all Italians.”
