Happy Birthday Denise, even if you are not with me, we are the same soul, you and I.

At present, after 11 years of ordeals, investigations, and trials, according to the judges there is no culprit for Denise's abduction, they have not provided us with any alternative lead compared to the people mainly accused; in short, those who do not want to see do not see, those who do not want to hear do not hear, and those who should speak do not speak. We will not stop, it is not over, we will continue in the search for Denise, for truth and justice.

Rightly, some say they do not want to get involved in our case, nor to give a name or a face to the monster, but that there will be people in charge of doing so. Others, instead, imagine, believe, know, but do not speak out; many have long since given a face to the despicable being who struck us. I, on the other hand, say that freedom of thought and speech, without harming anyone, is our right in a democratic country. So I ask myself, if a random child thief came to my house, choosing my daughter at random, a child among many, my caring advice as a parent is to watch out for your children! Because in these cases, the monster in question does not strike only once, so from now on I expect a healthy general alarmism in the city of Mazara, in Italy and beyond, just as Denise was kidnapped for no reason, any other child could be targeted even tomorrow; in this case, serious measures should be taken.

Instead, for the protection of minors, because I also fight for this, in general I would like the message to get across that children should not be used for personal purposes out of spite or revenge. There are inhuman people driven by malice and a twisted mind, they cannot be given the freedom to act undisturbed. Many people know about my story, unfortunately it is not an isolated case; just think that, with different methods and stories, in other news cases the child has become the easiest means used to hurt someone, often in most cases to harm their spouse. It is not enough to think that by distancing ourselves from the dramas of others we remain clean and immune from bad stories (these are things that concern them, they don't affect us much) — it is not always like that, tragedy does not warn you, does not knock at your door, does not ask for permission, it just arrives when you least expect it. In our country, there is a need to protect the most vulnerable, such as children, who in some cases find themselves entangled in the quarrels of adults who act cowardly without justification. There is a need to act concretely, to try to put a stop to those individuals who act without restraint, by using concrete and decisive actions against them. It is our moral duty to rebel against the numbness to evil, against indifference; evil should be eradicated at its root so that it does not proliferate undisturbed, but evidently not everyone thinks this way... often it remains free to act and continue under everyone's eyes, and who knows, maybe one day evil will touch someone else...

PIERA MAGGIO: POPE FRANCIS HAS REPLIED TO MY LETTER

I am very happy to have received a reply to a letter I had sent to His Holiness. Pope Francis, through his Personal Secretary, replied to me, and this filled me with joy. It was sent to me from Vatican City on October 26, Denise's birthday, and I received it on the 27th. In part of the letter it was written to me: "The Holy Father, in whose heart your voice and that of those who suffer finds deep resonance, expresses his closeness to me in difficulty and assures me of a special remembrance in prayer so that Jesus may bless me and the Holy Virgin may take care of me." "DO NOT LET ANYONE STEAL YOUR HOPE!" Pope Francis

CHRONOLOGY OF LETTER/RESPONSE: October 8, 2015, my letter was delivered to the Private Secretariat of His Holiness, as I was in the Vatican, I wrote it on the spot inside St. Peter's Church. On the 23rd, the response was written by Pope Francis' Personal Secretary, on the 26th it was sent with the Vatican City postmark and on the 27th I received it at home. (PM)

ONE OF MY REFLECTIONS - In these hours, many broadcasts from all over the world, talk shows, the press, commentators, politicians, religious figures, are talking about this tragic terrorist event that has shaken France and "THE WHOLE WORLD" just as happened in the past with other attacks. I would like that, once and for all, we move from the beautiful words of many to action, "where there's a will, there's a way." Many know that terrorist cells can also take advantage by moving through the migratory flows that have occurred in recent years with uncontrolled landings, often without documents and without identities, making it impossible to trace their origins. I believe that we must help and lend a hand to those in need, but also adopt intelligent and effective methods over time. This does not mean that evil comes from only one direction, but that it can probably strengthen and corrupt sick minds. PIERA MAGGIO: JUST TEN DAYS AFTER DENISE'S KIDNAPPING, VERONICA PANARELLO CALLED ME

20 NOVEMBER 2015 - PIERA MAGGIO: IN 2004, JUST TEN DAYS AFTER DENISE'S KIDNAPPING, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM VERONICA PANARELLO, THE MOTHER OF LITTLE LORIS STIVAL.

I don't want to get into the merits of the Loris Stival case, also because I prefer not to express my thoughts or opinions, nor to make judgments; the appropriate people will do that ..

I preferred to remain silent these past months, letting everyone do their work. Now, after the latest truths about the case, a fact has emerged that happened just ten days after the abduction of my daughter. This fact was already known to the investigators of the Ragusa Prosecutor's Office, and was made public during an episode of "Chi l'ha visto?" through a wiretap of Mrs. Veronica Panarello's own family members, dating back to December 3, 2014, contained in the 267 pages filed by the Ragusa Prosecutor's Office. Antonella Panarello calls her mother Carmela Aguzza asking if she remembers "that time when Veronica made up having seen Denise Pipitone."

In the days following Denise's abduction, I lived through agitated days full of despair where I didn't live through either night or day, every single phone call was my strong hope that it was the right one, I waited for the perfect tip-off that would let me embrace my little girl again, those were frantic days.

Among the hundreds of calls to my phone number, I received one in particular that gave me a lot of hope; on the other end of the line was a young Veronica Panarello, then 15 or 16 years old.

She told me she had seen Denise Pipitone, that she had recognized and touched her, she was in the company of two men in a car, the little girl was crying desperately and asking for her mother, adding minute details that I won't mention, but that at the time made me think she really was my daughter, so much so that that phone call stayed in my mind for a long time, TOO BAD THAT ALL THIS WAS JUST A MADE-UP STORY. The investigators at the time carried out the necessary checks by questioning Veronica Panarello, IT ALL TURNED OUT TO BE A HOAX, DEVISED BY PANARELLO HERSELF, WHO KNOWS FOR WHAT PURPOSE.

As far as I am personally concerned, I feel I must speak out even harshly because this gesture of his hurt me so much. If a person behaves in this way, creating alarm and false hopes in such a cruel manner by playing with the feelings of a suffering mother, I really think that this is not the behavior of a normal person, and he probably already needed help back then.

By chance, years later, I see again the name of this now mother "Veronica Panarello", involved in a painful news story...

Piera Maggio: “Veronica Panarello called me because she had seen Denise”

"It was just a made-up story, a hoax orchestrated by Panarello herself, who knows for what purpose," wrote Piera Maggio, mother of little Denise Pipitone. "This gesture of hers hurt me a lot. Why make fun of a desperate mother?" she concluded.

As emerges from the Prosecutor's documents, at the age of 16, and specifically in September 2004, Veronica Panarello alerted "the law enforcement agencies of the entire nation and in particular those of the provinces of Ragusa and Trapani, claiming to have seen, in circumstances she described in detail, sometimes with extreme clarity and precision, sometimes with equal approximation, the presence of little Denise Pipitone," who disappeared in Mazara del Vallo on September 1, 2004. In fact, despite providing an accurate description of certain details regarding the circumstances of the sighting, the description of the child (noting that she had a scratch under her left eye), and the alleged kidnappers (one of whom she noticed was wearing a wedding ring on the right hand), "she showed evident perplexity when it came to providing the essential elements for identifying the perpetrators (for example, the license plate of the car they were traveling in)."

"In the days following Denise's abduction, I lived through frantic days full of despair where I lived neither night nor day, every single phone call was my strong hope that it was the right one. I was waiting for the perfect tip-off, the one that would let me hug my little girl again, those were hectic days. Among the hundreds of calls to my phone, I received one in particular that made me hope so much. On the other end of the line was a young Veronica Panarello, then 15 years old," wrote Denise Pipitone's mother (whose lawyer is Giacomo Frazzitta) on Facebook. "She told me she had seen my daughter, had recognized and touched her, she was in the company of two men in a car, the little girl was crying desperately and asking for her mother, adding minute details that made me think at that moment that it really was my daughter, so much so that that phone call stayed in my mind for a long time, it's a pity that it was all just a made-up story. At the time, investigators carried out the necessary checks by listening to Veronica Panarello, and it all turned out to be a hoax, orchestrated by her, who knows for what purpose," she added.

Denise's mother: "It hurt me so much"

"This gesture of hers hurt me a lot. If a person behaves in this way, creating alarm and false hopes in such a cruel manner, playing with the feelings of a suffering mother, I really think that it is not the behavior of a normal person, she probably already needed help back then," wrote Piera Maggio, suggesting that the woman wanted "to draw attention to herself." "It is not logical behavior to make fun of a desperate mother," she concluded.

In a wiretap, dated December 3, 2014, contained in the 267 pages filed by the Ragusa Prosecutor's Office, Antonella Panarello calls her mother Carmela Aguzza asking her if she remembered "that time when Veronica made up having seen Denise Pipitone."
