Dearest ones, I am sorry I could not take part in the march, but my thoughts and my heart are with you! On the International Missing Children's Day, I, the mother of Denise Pipitone, morally condemn all those who allow themselves to harm a child in order to satisfy their own instincts of revenge and other motives... vile and inhuman people, perverse minds who use the weakness of a child to achieve their aims, and they even succeed.
No child in the world should be violated, kidnapped, or killed in their identity, destroying their innocence, tearing them away from their loved ones, just as no parent deserves to suffer such torment as the disappearance or loss of a child, denying them the right to raise, care for, and love.
My strong hope is to know that the Monsters, the bad wolves, will be brought to justice and pay severely for the evil they have caused.
Every child in the world deserves to be protected and defended from people without scruples or conscience. Hurting a child is like hurting the whole world, because children are the future, and we were children in the past. LET'S GIVE A VOICE TO THOSE WHO CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES OR CRY FOR HELP, WE ARE THEIR VOICE!!

Reflections of a lawyer: (LETTER TO DENISE) over these years I have represented Denise's mother, Piera Maggio, but I have represented her in her capacity as the person exercising parental responsibility for little Denise Pipitone, so I have represented little Denise Pipitone before the judges and, therefore, I thought of writing her a letter in my capacity as her lawyer, considering that tomorrow it will be 11 years since she has been missing from home, due to the act of an insane and criminal hand:
"Dear little Denise, having represented the cry for justice that you have been shouting for 11 years through my petitions and my requests has been a painful honor, because, perhaps, you don't know it, but you have become, despite yourself, a symbol of children taken away from the affection of their parents. You may wonder why the world of adults is so complicated, why they are wasting all this time to bring you back to your mother and to the love of your dear ones. The answer is simple, bitterly simple: adults are twisted, false, apparently genuine, they are bureaucratically (a word that perhaps is the main reason for your not returning until today) incapable, they are blind and deaf when they want to be, but, above all, they do not know how to give answers and try to invent a truth that reassures their consciences."
In the meantime, you haven't had the chance to see your big brother grow up, to see your mother's face change, to hug your elderly grandparents, but above all, you haven't been able to name the person who took you 11 years ago.
Soon you will be 15 years old, the age of adolescence, that age when uncertainties become anxieties, passions turn into loves, and the relationship with your parents becomes lovingly conflicting.
Dear Denise, I can tell you with certainty that everything that could be done, your mom and I have done, and we will continue to do so because the truth must triumph, at least that, since justice is tragically and incomprehensibly slow. Bye little one, see you soon"

On September 1, 2004, our life changed, marked forever. The ease of the abominable act by cowards prevailed over a defenseless little girl. As time passed, bureaucracy turned our pain into mechanical actions, devoid of any feeling, almost as if to forget that behind this tragedy lies our suffering, your very life. Defrauded of my daughter's love, wounded daily by an apparent judicial normality and by a false respectability, I wonder how all these years have passed, and who knows how many more, before we reach a true Truth and a slow and long-awaited Justice. Our strong hope of embracing Denise again is within us, beyond what some may think. We want the Monsters to be brought to justice and not left free to live their lives undisturbed, knowing they have done harm.
My little Denise, we will always keep looking for you, we will never give up! Even if far apart, we are close in heart and mind!! Piera Maggio

THE DARKNESS HAS STILL REIGNED FOR MONTHS IN THE SQUARE AND ON THE STELE DEDICATED TO DENISE AND ALL THE MISSING CHILDREN IN THE WORLD, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES... THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN THOSE WHO HEAR AND PRETEND NOT TO HEAR... NO COMMENT... (PM)
(September 19, 2015) In recent days, some residents of the Piazza Macello area have contacted us to report that the square, and especially its center—where last year, on October 27, 2014, a stele was erected in memory of little “Denise Pipitone and all the missing children in the world”—has been completely in the dark for several months and the reason is unclear. We at Vivi Mazara went to inspect the area, photographing and publishing a picture of how Piazza Macello looks in the evening. Yet, that square, where there is a symbol dedicated to all the missing children in the world and the school Denise Pipitone attended, should always be lit, with beams of light from that stele illuminating the sky and the area that the city administration intended to have a meaning of solidarity and significant importance. We hope that the city administration will intervene quickly to restore a place that adults and especially children would like to see lit up, with the symbol of the stele full of light. THE COURT OF APPEAL OF PALERMO CONFIRMS THE ACQUITTAL OF DENISE'S STEPSISTER, "DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCE"
Today, October 2, 2015, the judges of the Palermo Court of Appeal confirmed the first instance verdict, acquitting Jessica Pulizzi of the crime of kidnapping a minor under art. 530 co. II (“the judge pronounces a verdict of acquittal also when the evidence is lacking, insufficient, or contradictory.”) (in practice, due to insufficient evidence), while Gaspare Galheb, Jessica Pulizzi's ex-boyfriend, accused of making false statements to the Public Prosecutor, had been sentenced in the first instance to 2 years (for false statements to the prosecutor, meaning he concealed information about the kidnapping of Denise Pipitone, revealed by Jessica and not only these). The crime had already expired due to the statute of limitations, and now this has been reconfirmed... we just have to wait for the reasoning of the verdict, which will be filed within 90 days.

DENISE CASE, JESSICA PULIZZI ALSO ACQUITTED ON APPEAL. PIERA MAGGIO "THERE IS NO JUSTICE"(October 2, 2015) The Third Court of Appeal of Palermo, presided over by Raimondo Lo Forti, confirmed the acquittal of Jessica Pulizzi, half-sister of Denise Pipitone, who disappeared on September 1, 2004. Attorney General Rosalba Scaduto had requested 15 years in prison for the young woman accused of kidnapping (she had also been acquitted in the first instance). Also present in the courtroom was Piera Maggio, Denise's mother, who was almost 4 years old at the time of her disappearance. "There is no justice, and today we have had confirmation of that. There is no justice, I will continue to look for my daughter," said Piera Maggio. Also upset was Piero Pulizzi, Denise Pipitone's biological father: "We waited eleven years, for what? To have no justice. This verdict is absurd...".
"It is a sad moment for Italian justice. We are waiting for the reasons for the verdict. The case of Chiara Poggi comes to mind: there too the defendant was acquitted twice, but then the Supreme Court established different things." This was said by Giacomo Frazzitta, civil party lawyer for the family of Denise Pipitone. "We believe this is a fair verdict, which comes after serious investigations ordered by the Palermo Court of Appeal." Thus said Fabrizio Torre, lawyer for Jessica Pulizzi.
The judges of the Palermo Court of Appeal entered the council chamber this morning to issue the verdict in the trial for the disappearance of little Denise Pipitone, the girl who vanished on September 1, 2004, from Mazara del Vallo (Trapani) while playing in front of her house. The defendants are Jessica Pulizzi, accused of kidnapping, and Gaspare Ghaleb, accused of perjury. However, for the latter, the crime is time-barred.The Public Prosecutor's Office had requested a fifteen-year prison sentence for Pulizzi, who was a minor at the time of the events. Present in the courtroom was Piera Maggio, Denise's mother, who has never stopped fighting for her daughter. "A series of clues lead us to believe that Jessica was the perpetrator of the kidnapping," said Prosecutor General Rosalba Scaduto in her closing argument. "She is guilty beyond any doubt. The clues are clear, unambiguous, and convergent. The fact that Denise has not been found over the years and that the accomplices to whom the child was subsequently handed over have not been identified does not mean that Jessica, who could not have acted alone, is innocent." Jessica Pulizzi's lawyers, Fabrizio Torre and Gioacchino Sbacchi, submitted a written statement.

Marsala (TP) - Yesterday, the acquittal of the Palermo Court of Appeal for Jessica Pulizzi was confirmed, who was accused of kidnapping little Denise Pipitone. The public prosecutor Rosalba Scaduto had requested 15 years in prison, but she had also been acquitted in the first instance. In the courtroom was the mother of little Denise, Piera Maggio. We at L’Osservatore D’Italia interviewed Lawyer Giacomo Frazzitta, legal representative of Piera Maggio, who answered some of our questions regarding the case:

"It is clear that a particularly difficult judgment cannot have a foregone result, the feeling—and unfortunately in law one cannot live by feelings but by certainties—as men it was an interesting feeling, we had a positive feeling. It is true that at a certain point we noticed the mood of the Court, however the proceedings had very specific, well-defined appeal documents, which had no gaps, which highlighted shortcomings in the use of the first instance. These were considered well-founded at the reopening of the trial and therefore it is clear that we did not have certainty but a good idea that we had done a good job, the best that could be done."
Regarding the elements against Jessica?
"Regarding the elements against Jessica in particular, the access to the house two hours after the disappearance of little Denise Pipitone at Anna Corona's house was also investigated, and in reality it was found that this access was diverted by Anna Corona herself, who let them into the neighbor's house. In this story, I'm sorry to say, there are many people who are aware, and we have proof of facts and elements, that could change the meaning of this tragic affair. Unfortunately, these people are either reluctant or simply do not tell the truth; all this has harmed this circumstantial process and so, in addition to being born with major genetic difficulties, it has been further aggravated by the reluctance and lack of cooperation of many third-party witnesses out of fear and many other reasons. The fact remains that despite this, we have managed to get a fairly clear picture, a puzzle in which some pieces are missing. There is no doubt, I cannot deny it, but we have some certain points in this puzzle."
What will the next moves be?
“The next steps will certainly be that we must wait for the reasons, I cannot rule out a priori the possibility of appealing to the Supreme Court because I would be failing my oath as a lawyer, I would be failing my ethical duties towards my client, but I would also be failing my own moral condition. The search for the truth in this story must be pursued in every forum, whether these are extrajudicial and related to research, or the canonical judicial venues, and it is with these canonical venues that we engage. We have three levels of judgment and we will face all three with our heads held high, as we have done so far, with the awareness that we are in the right, with the awareness that we have a clear vision of what happened in this case.” We hope to be able to convey this to the judges of the Supreme Court as well.
Will Denise still be searched for?
“Denise will be highly sought after, I believe she is the most sought-after child in the world, together with Meddi, and we will continue to do our duty also in this area of the search. I won't deny that we did it in August, we did it in September, because we do not overlook any report, we do not overlook any small element that could lead us to be able to embrace Denise Pipitone again. We hope to be able to achieve this, for us it is a dream, unfortunately in this dream many nightmarish people have stood in the way and we hope that the truth will emerge and we hope that the curtain of silence that envelops the city of Mazara del Vallo like a dark cloak can finally open and that this city and its inhabitants, all of them, can redeem themselves and redeem the image of this city which certainly has not given a good image of itself in this story. With bitterness I acknowledge the acquittal verdict for Jessica Pulizzi, decided by the judges of the Palermo Court of Appeal, presided over by Raimondo Lo Forti, a verdict that I respect but do not agree with. It frightens me to know that the search for procedural truth does not always coincide with the real and substantial truth; unfortunately, there are quite a few such cases, and we are their victims. The Attorney General, represented by Dr. Rosalba Scaduto, had requested 15 years of imprisonment for Jessica, as did the prosecutors of the Marsala Court: “A series of clear, unequivocal, and converging clues lead us to believe that Jessica was the perpetrator of the abduction. She is guilty beyond any doubt. Even if she could not have acted alone.” This is how they expressed themselves in their closing arguments, to show that these are not just “the paranoias of a poor mother.” Many, like me, regardless of the verdicts, have clear awareness and ideas about how the events unfolded, who the real culprits are who stained themselves with such an evil and cruel act as the kidnapping of my daughter, that truth which does not enter the courtrooms, but which by logic, facts, intuition, and form could not be otherwise. We live in a country where the guilty are free and the innocent who knows where... In Italy, there are three levels of judgment; if it is my right, after reading the reasons for the verdict, we will appeal to the Supreme Court, it is not over yet. I wish for those responsible for Denise’s abduction, for those who hide the truth about the case, for those who know and do not speak, “TO ALWAYS HAVE, DAY AND NIGHT, THE IMPLORING EYES OF MY LITTLE GIRL UPON THEM.” Now I am certain that beyond appearances, some do not even have a conscience! If we know where Denise is, Italy will be a better country
On September 1, 2004, Italy changed. It didn’t know it yet, at noon on that terrible day, when little Denise had been missing from home for just half an hour, but Italy, all of it, had already changed. For the first time, an event that happened in a southern town, a story in a certain sense “familiar,” was about to enter every home in our country and would remain there… forever. In the following days, the apprehension grew for this little girl we learned to love by seeing dozens of photos, even hearing her voice in a video broadcast by the media—terrible or wonderful accomplices—and so, day by day, Denise became our daughter, our granddaughter, our sister, our cousin. A status that will not change even in fifty years, because Denise Pipitone has entered the history of our country. In history because it was following her kidnapping and the tireless fight of the “mother of Italy” Piera Maggio that the so-called “Denise law” was established, which differentiates kidnapping, already regulated by our legislation, from the kidnapping of a minor. Precisely in the name of this same “Denise law,” the prosecutors of the Marsala Court in the first instance and the attorney general before the Court of Appeal, requested 15 years in prison for Jessica Pulizzi, the only defendant (even though she was charged with the crime as an accomplice, no one else was ever charged) for the disappearance of the child, her half-sister on her father’s side. But both in the first and second instance, Jessica was acquitted. Now the case is heading to the third level of judgment, but as is known, the Supreme Court does not intervene on the merits of the case, but on the legitimacy of the sentence. In the meantime, however, eleven full years have passed. And Denise has grown up, while always remaining Italy’s little girl. In these long years, however, there have been many impostors who have called Piera Maggio or the police to give more or less credible information about the fate of the little girl. Last October 7, yet another twist. Piera revealed on “Chi l’ha visto,” a Rai 3 program that has always followed the case, that last August a girl, via Facebook, wrote to her: “I am Denise, mom.” This was in response to the appeal launched by Piera Maggio, with her photo and the words “Denise, do you remember? I am your mom.” At the moment, it is not known whether this is just a tasteless joke or if there is some truth behind this shocking statement. Once again, Italy is holding its breath. But one thing is now certain. After eleven years of anxiety, tears, forests of cameras, revealed family entanglements, pains that unite and heartbreaks that tear apart, it is no longer possible to wait. Italy, the State, must give a prompt and certain answer. Since the only defendant—for the crime as an accomplice—is not guilty, it is necessary to find out who is. It is necessary not only for the legitimate right of a mother to embrace her daughter again, but for an entire country that has so far awaited a clear and distinct ending. A country that in many ways is trying to start over. Well, I believe that if we know where Denise is, who took her and why they did it, Italy will be a better country.

“MAZARA DOES NOT STOP”: MARCH FOR DENISE PIPITONEMazara, 22.10.2015 - A march to not forget Denise Pipitone. A march to keep attention high on the disappearance of the little girl, who has been missing since September 1, 2004. A march to gather around the family of the child, on the day she turns 15. The initiative will take place next Monday, precisely on Denise's birthday, the 12th that the family is forced to live without being able to hug the girl, now a teenager. The march is organized by the local Unac association and Denise's family, led by her mother Piera Maggio. “Mazara does not stop. A birthday without truth and justice” is the title of the initiative, in which students from Mazara schools will also take part. The march will start at 5 p.m. from Piazza della Repubblica and will end at Piazza Macello, where the school Denise Pipitone attended at the time of the kidnapping is located and where the city administration has erected a stele in memory of the girl and all missing minors.
